Karina S. Rhode, NCTMB, LMT, ACSM-PT

“If you’d told me 20 years ago I’d be more fascinated by a human dissection class than a Puccini aria, I’d have said you were nuts!” says Karina Rhode. While attending Ball State University on a classical voice scholarship, Karina discovered she had a love for natural health applications. Following college, the passion for natural medicine grew into a more physical art.

In 1996, Karina enrolled in massage therapy school and began her journey into the world of bodywork therapy. “I love the changes that can be made when you understand how the body works,” she says. “In my opinion, the best bodywork begins with a solid background in the science of the human body physically & chemically.” To that end, she continues to study anatomy, physiology & nutrition in depth in order to fully understand in intricacies of how the body functions.

After obtaining her bodywork certificate from Health Enrichment Center, Karina continued her studies obtaining a degree in Medical Massage from Indiana College of Bodywork Modalities. Adjunct studies have included Myofacial/Deep Tissue rehabilitative techniques, Lymphedema certification, Visceral Manipulation, Thai Massage, & Active Release Techniques modalities. She also holds a personal trainer certification through the American College of Sports Medicine. Since starting her practice back in ‘96, she has blended these skills into a unique and highly effective approach to wellness/performance enhancement, trauma, repetitive use & injury rehabilitation.

Karina understands the demands of the high performance athlete from a personal perspective. In her spare time, she pursues an intense training regime for competition figure bodybuilding. Competing since 2007, she has achieved several wins and top 5 finishes.  Karina’s efforts have earned her professional status in two competing clubs, IFPA (2009) & IFBB (2015). She uses her personal training experiences to broaden her understanding of the synergistic effects of nutrition, body conditioning, and recovery methods.

Karina has received over 5000 hours of bodywork education via independent study, state and nationally regulated programs, is an Indiana licensed practitioner, Nationally Certified Massage & Bodywork Therapist, and a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. She has taught massage therapy as a primary instructor and as certified teaching assistant/lecture presenter for the Lymphatic Drainage Curriculum through The Upledger Institute.
